The creation of Western Potatoes Pty Ltd in 2004 was in response to government restructuring of the West Australian potato industry. The principle behind Western Potatoes Pty Ltd was to create a more streamlined, efficient potato industry for Western Australians.

The organisation has been entrusted to conduct the new “Australia’s Feel Good Food” marketing campaign on behalf of stakeholders in the West Australian potato industry.

The marketing campaign has been designed to increase awareness of the health and nutritional benefits, versatility and convenience of West Australian grown potatoes.

The campaign incorporates a number of promotional activities to convey the message including educational programs, point-of-sale material for retailers, in-store cooking demonstrations, website and print media.

Western Potatoes Pty Ltd represents a number of European breeding houses, specialising in the breeding of potato varieties for wares, processing and export markets. Currently, the organisation has nineteen Plant Breeder Right protected species in Australia including Royal Blue, Mondial, Midas and Admiral, ensuring Australians have access to a tastier selection of potato varieties.
